Huawei Ascend P6 unveiled as world’s slimmest smartphone

A mid-range handset of that might not rival the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the HTC One, the Huawei Ascend P6 lines up at just 6.18mm thick and sports Google’s Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS at its core.

Unveiling the new streamline handset, Huawei CEO Richard Yu described the phone as “the embodiment of elegance but with edge.” He added: “The six in P6 is more than a name, it is the thickness of the device. It is very, very difficult to do a smartphone this thin.”

Huawei Ascend P6 Features

Aside from taking the mantle as the world’s slimmest smartphone, the super skinny Huawei Ascend P6 features list sees a raft of premium components wrapped up within the aforementioned sleek, stylish shell.

Running the latest iteration of the company’s Emotion UI atop Android 4.2.2, the Ascend P6 is set to offer a familiar user experience, with a 1.5GHz quad-core processor helping ensure the device is not only the slimmest, but one of the fastest on the market.

Pairing these impressive foundations with 2GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage, expandable via microSD, the Huawei Ascend P6 specs sheet is further enhanced by an 8-megapixel rear-mounted camera alongside a second, 5-megapixel forward-facing snapper.

Further bolstering this camera collection, the 8-megapixel rear-mounted camera is partnered by an f/2.0 aperture and an impressive 4cm macro view length. On top of this an IMAGESmart ENGINE and auto scene recognition combine to offer better photographic results.

With a 2,000mAh Lithium-Ion battery keeping things chugging along, the slimline Huawei Ascend P6 boasts a sleek, metal finish.

Discussing the handset’s form factor, Nick Woodley, Huawei’s Lead Designer for the company’s London Design Office stated: “With the P6 we truly believe we have achieved world class design.”

The Huawei Ascend P6 is set to be made available in a trio of colour options, with black and silver models lining up alongside a pink option.

G Pro 2 coming on February 13 as LG schedules an event

The South Korean manufacturers upcoming announcement and their next generation phablet, the G Pro 2 has been in talks for a while, and as today the company sends out invitations for the Press media for their event, pre-Mobile World Congress. The Koreans have scheduled a conference in their homeland, West Tower Auditorium, Seoul on 13th of February, 2014, from timings between 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM, local.

Last month, weve got the firms confirmations on their upcoming phablet flagship handset and the successor model to their current G Pro, which was hinted coming this month, and we guessed it to be a MWC shows topper from LG. Following the news, we also saw the device in a couple of allegedly leaked photographs. But as today, the company have its Press invites live, we really doubt to witness the LG made G Pro 2 come to the show, as they dont have any other major phones in their pipeline.

So, the basic reports and rumors suggest us a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with a six-inches Full High Definition screen of 1080p resolution display, 3 gigabytes of Random Access Memory and packing Androids version 4.4 KitKat out of its box.
